I-Con 27 - 2008

Me, my bf, and my friends cosplayed characters from the Legend of Zelda cartoon from way back in the 80's aired on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show Friday afternoons.

The costumes I was responsible for were my Zelda and my bf's Ganon. My bf made the props, a Stalfo bow and an Evil Jar.

These costumes were simple in nature, but were expanded on by the addition of details and trims.

The judges were very impressed with the choices we made! We also performed a skit in the Cosplay Masquerade and won Best in Show! It was great since it was both the first skit and the first win for us! Because of the horrible audio, we were given a second chance to perform. However that better performance isn't on Youtube currently, but you can see the first run here.... [link]

Zelda: A sleeveless tunic and sleeves from a dress pattern were combined to make the shirt. A pattern from a denim bolero was roughly followed for the vest. Black emboidery was added to trim the collar, over the puffs of the sleeves(in a very renaissance/medieval style), and the ends of the sleeves. Ribbon and beads were added to the vest and a very detailed gold trim was used for the armbands. I bought a tiara, clipped off all the stuff on it and glued on a braid of two colored leathers and a silver chain. The ornament was made of super sculptee, painted, and adorned with a red jewel. A triangle piece was glued to the belt buckle and painted. White skinny jeans were dyed pink, came out too dark, then were bleached. The boots, belt, pouch, and earrings were all bought without alterations.

Ganon: A standard clerical pattern was used for the robe and collar and a roman helmet pattern for the helmet. Plain purple vinyl was used on the sleeves while a snakeskin pattern was used for the rest of the purple details. A more elaborate trim was used on the collar, blue embroidery and foam clay spikes for the helmet, and both the belt and helmet were lined with an auburn fabric.

He's SO Ganon. I like the fingernails and how he's got that whole Ganon hands thing going on.
