So for Halloween I decided to go with a Kitsune. I came up with the idea first most when I decided that I was too burnt out to do much construction on a new costume before next year. I was looking at kimono stuff randomly when I came across this beautiful furisode. It was expensive so I dismissed the idea of buying it, but after 2 weeks of staring at it I had to have it. The fox spirit idea came afterwards when I was thinking of things I could do to make it more interesting than just me in a kimono.

Originally I was going to do more with the idea, like really go all out on styling the wig, and whatnot, but things either failed or I ran outta time(and I was lazy *cough cough*).

I WAS making a kitsune mask for my costume, but my clay decided to go all bonkers on me after I put it aside for a few days and adhered itself to the plastic board I was working on. I didn't have the heart to start again, so I just painted the mask markings on my face instead. The other thing I was going to do was make 9 tails that would come out from the bottom of my wig, but upon completion, I hated the way it looked and scrapped it. I didn't have time to do much else other than make one bigger tail for the back. It sucked cause the whole idea behind a white wig and white fur was that when a kitsune that has gotten it's 9th tail it's fur turns white or gold.

Anyhoo.......I'm rambling a lot. I love love love this kimono and all the accessories I bought for it(took a while to get everything). It was my first time wearing one too and took me a while to get it on. It wasn't so bad, but the obi was HARD!!! It's a fukuro obi and while it's not the most formal on the list, it's high up there so it's super thick, heavy, and has lots of embroidery that makes it stiff. It took both me and my bf to get it on me......and took us 3 tries too. I didn't have everything on perfectly, but I was proud of myself for the first time. It's a lot of layers and accessories and it's tough to do with long sleeves(I should tie them up next time while I dress).

I can't wait to use this kimono for a photoshoot!
