Phew, finally got around to finishing this one.....despite a hospital visit and being hopped up on painkillers.
Makes me so happy, I love the way it came out!
This is my vision of a modern Zelda. I was more inspired by the Ocarina of Time design since the colors are much brighter.
I did my own design for the tapestry. Also, if you know your Zelda mythology well, there's also representation of the goddesses in the trim of her dress. The blue triangles represent the sky and air created by Naru, the goddess of Wisdom. The red "flames" represent the fire and earth created by Din, the goddess of power. Lastly the green represents all the life that lives in between created by Faore, the goddess of courage.
I had a certain color scheme in my head as I worked on this, and I made a few adjustments along the way. Originally the wings were just going to be a solid yellow. I was inspired to do the fade by tattoos I had seen of the Twilight Princess wings and triforce design and thought it added a nice extra boost of red to break up all the yellow shades between the wings and hair. The cape was originally colored the same pink as some of the details and I found it to be overly bright. I went over it with the purple to tone it down....the same goes for the bikini top straps and the boots to break up all that white. I used silver marker over purple pencil for the energy to make it light up and glow.
I have scrap drawings around with designs for a modern Link, Sheik, and Ganondorf that I hope to get onto good paper soon.
